It was seven pm when Jason looked at his wrist watch as he heard a knocking in the front door. It was Danny when he opened the door. Jason was surprised to see Danny that way. Danny was wearing a suit. Jason made sure he wasn't drunk as he shooed his head frantically. What on earth are you wearing?” Jason asked in a crooked voice. “It’s a suit Jason, can’t you see?” Danny replied while taking a look at his black suit. Danny was afraid inside, because he didn't know what Emma’s reaction might be. “I came to pick Emma” Danny said. “…and Melanie” Danny corrected as his cheeks turned in to red.
Jason stood there for a while frozen. “Ah, I’ll call them. Emma… Melanie…. Danny’s here” Jason’s voice was different; he was even more amazed with whatever happened in between Danny and Emma.
“Listen is this a date?” Jason whispered slowly. “Date? Oh no, it’s no date. It’s just that she asked me to go with her. So I said yes” Danny replied looking dumbfounded.
“Well, brother. If it’s a date. Let me tell you something. You won’t find Emmas wherever you go, there’s only one Emma. You can’t find any carbon copies. I have you seen getting along with Emma. She’s a good girl. Every guy’s got a one and maybe she’s the one”
Before Danny could answer he saw Emma stepping downstairs. Danny’s eyes were focused on to Emma as she made her steps slowly. She was dressed in a red, sleeveless dress with pale reed heels. She had red lipstick applied and her hair was loosened. Danny thought she looked like a modern princess. She was so pretty in Danny’s eyes.
Melanie was behind her walking shyly as she was wearing the exact same thing what Emma wore. They looked like twins.
“You look… pretty” Though sexy was what he wanted to tell, he thought it was inappropriate. Emma gave him a wink “You look good too”
“Let’s go, I can’t wait to see my friends. They’ll die from jealousy.” Melanie screamed with happiness.
“We’ll meet you at The Dungeon then” Jason said winking.
Emma smiled as they stepped outside.
The Dungeon was filled with weird and ridiculous faces. For the first time The Dungeon looked pretty ecstatic. People were wearing varies costumes appearing to be monsters, witches, Royals and many more. Emma could see half of the glances were boring in to her she grabbed Danny by his hand. The Halloween party was in full swing. Melanie ran towards her friends who waved at her.
Helen and Jason arrived later in their full on costumes. Jason was wearing his horrible monster costume which was disgusting to look at. Emma recognized that Danny was really quite the entire time. “Want to dance?” Emma asked, watching people getting stuffed on the dance floor with their weird costumes.
“Well, I think I have to go to check for the food.” Danny said as he left Emma in the middle of the crowd towards the Kitchen. Emma was running through various possibilities. She had no idea why Danny acted different. She was wondering whether she has caused him any embarrassment. She looked at her dress and looked at the crowd. She saw Danny coming out from the kitchen and he talked with a few men, instead talking to her. But she needed answers. She knew it was nothing. Maybe Danny was really shy or maybe he was too busy with the whole party thing. But she was hurt; she wanted all Danny’s attention focused towards her. She had crazy ideas floating inside her head as she walked through the jam packed crowd.
“Hey” She was stopped by a familiar face. It was Rick, he looked wasted with his red eyes.
“Let’s dance”
“I don’t think so” Emma replied ignoring him.
“It’s just a dance sweety” Rick said grabbing by Emma’s hands and pulling them.
“Leave me alone” Emma cried shrugging her hands away from Rick. But Ricky was too strong that she discreetly grabbed by her hands, this time more strongly.
“Let me go, ass hole” Emma’s screaming caused to get attention from certain groups
“Hey, Didn’t you hear her. Let her go Rick” Danny’s voice appeared behind Emma.
His had a strong impression on his face yet he looked calm.
“Oh come on Danny. I just asked her to dance with me” Ricky said laughing wryly.
“But she doesn’t want to dance with you. So leave her alone” Danny sounded calm yet angry.
“Oohh, what’s wrong with you? Are you her pimpy?” Ricky replied sarcastically as she held Emma’s hand tighter.
“I said let her go”
“What if I don’t? I’ll dance with her the whole night and if I want I’ll sleep with her”
Rick couldn’t carry on further as Danny slammed his fist in to Rick’s face causing Rick to fall down. He was hit by several forceful blows to the stomach and face.
Emma’s face was filled in horror as she tried to pull Danny away. Suddenly a few guys including Jason dragged Danny away from Rick who was trying to get over from the shock and the pain.
They took Danny in to the kitchen. Emma followed them slowly as she tried to wipe tears from her face. She was in a complete shock with what just happened.
Danny didn’t speak a single word, no one did. Jason woke his voice breaking the silence.
“I think Emma and Danny, you guys better leave now. We’ll take care of Rick and the party.”
“Oh Emma, are you alright honey? You look awful” Helen entered the kitchen with a desperate expression on her face followed by Melanie who looked scared.
“Emmy?” She grabbed Emma’s hand.
“I’m alright honey, thanks” Emma replied trying to recover from the dead silence.
“Let’s go” Danny who was silent the whole time, stood up steadily looking at Emma. Emma knew he was in so much anger. She doubted whether she was the reason.
Later in the night Emma and Danny found themselves walking home in silence. Danny was deadly silent and Emma was too afraid to utter a single word.
“I’ll wait till others arrive. I don’t want you to stay here alone” It was the only thing Danny said when they reached home. Emma stared at him.
“Why are you doing this?” snaps Emma.
“Doing what?” Danny replied in a casual way.
“I can’t understand you. You were so good and today you just acted like you never knew me and suddenly you hit your friend to defend me. What was all that about? Were you trying to be a super hero or something?” Emma lifted a hand.
“I should have done it to defend anyone. I wasn’t doing any special favor” Danny gave her a savage look.
Emma frowned as she stared at Danny for a while.
“Then leave” Those words burst out from Emma.
“No ways, I’m going to leave you here alone. You might end up breaking a toe or something” Danny replied with an angry look.
“No, this is not the Danny I used to know. I don’t like this new you”
“Is this about hitting Rick?”
“No it isn’t. It’s about you ignoring me at the party. If you didn’t treat me in that way, we wouldn’t have caused so much drama.” Emma cried. “I was busy” Danny lied, Emma realized it with the way he looked. “Don’t lie you did it on purpose, you were ignoring me on purpose” Emma said with tears filled her eyes.
“Why are you blaming me? You never told me you wanted me to be with you” Danny said with an angry groan.
“I don’t know, you’re a guy and you should have understood that” Emma cried.
“Why would it matter whether I stayed with you or not?” Danny asked worriedly. “I don’t know” Emma whispered slowly.
They stood there for a while looking at each other. Emma tried to think of something to say to break the silence but she was lost. She was lost in Danny’s strong gaze. Suddenly she saw Danny walking towards her. He cupped Emma’s face in a gentle way. His eyes were gentle and strong as he bored his eyes in to Emma’s eyes. Emma could feel his nose brushing her neck softly. It was so soft that Emma wanted more. She was frozen at where she stood as Danny kissed her neck. A small tickle went through her spine each and every time Danny ran his fingers through her waist and hips.
Danny breathed in deeply staring down at her dark eyes for a while. “I think.. I..” Emma couldn’t finish her sentence as his lips came down over her mouth. Emma curled her arms around his shoulders tightly making him come closer. She could feel his warmth as his tongue touched her lips in a desirous way. He knew she wanted him. And then they eventually worked their way in to her bedroom.
Emma knew it’s a mistake when she lied down her bed yet she wanted that mistake to happen anyways. Emma could feel his body on top of her while the long soft kissing continued. She loved when his body brushed against hers. Danny let out soft moans when Emma tried to kiss his tanned body. She found Danny trying to unzip her dress as he sent his fingers running inside her dress to touch her unrevealed parts. Emma ran her fingers through his thick curly hair, forgetting everything else for a once as she felt him inside her.
Later during that night all she could see was Danny sleeping on her shoulder like a toddler, breathing hard. She had so much happening inside her mind. She it was wrong what happened between Danny and her. But she had no idea why it was wrong. She was already single yet she felt that she was in a relationship with Kelvin. Emma knew that there were so many questions left without any answers given when she closed her eyes.
Emma opened her eyes trying to look at the sun shine flowing in to her face from the huge windows. She lied on the bed for a while until her eyes got used to the shine. She sat on the bed trying to remember what happened because she found herself completely naked under the soft bed sheets and then all the flash backs hit her head like a storm giving her a shiver down the spine. Emma turned around looking for Danny who has left the room few hours early before anyone could find out.
Emma sighed and lied on her bed again trying to close her eyes. She wanted to forget everything for a second. But she also wanted to plan what to do next. Emma sank down against the pillows until she heard Helen calling her name.
“I’m coming” Emma replied back in a high pitched voice.
The brooks’s breakfast table was completely silent that day. Everyone was in their own worlds as they slowly finished their meals. Not even Melanie spoke a word. Danny wasn’t there as well, which was unusual of him. Emma wanted to know why, though she knew the possible answer.
The things went quite normal after the breakfast as everyone started to work. Melanie was in her usual chit chat with Emma and she was careful enough to forget about the Halloween terror.
But she had no sign of Danny until late afternoon when he came finding Emma who was feeding the cows.
“Hey” Danny said as he looked down at the cows. “Hi” Emma replied. Emma knew she had to give an explanation about what happened last night. It was completely strange and unreasonable. And she knew it was all her fault.
“Look Danny..” Emma said looking up
“I know it’s a bit weird what happened last night. Oh I don’t know what to say. This is so stupid. Look I’m extremely sorry for what happened. It’s my fault. Can we just forget it and move on as friends?” Emma spilled the words without any effort just like she practiced early during the day.
“Oh” Darren replied after an awkward silence. “That sounds reasonable”
“Are you sure” Emma asked.
Danny opened his mouth but no sound came out. He nodded instead. “I think I have to go now.” Danny said turning away from Emma. “Hey, wait. What happened with Rick?” Emma wanted to know.
“He apologized and I sued him” Danny said as she left the barn. “Oh” Emma sighed while looking Danny’s tall lean figure disappeared.
The next few days were normal for Emma’s luck. Melanie and Emma took tours to different farms in the town with Jason as it was Emma’s last few days in Wennington. It’s been a month since Emma visited Wennington but Emma had no idea how fast time flew by.
The saddest part was Emma felt Danny’s unusual absence everyday at their breakfast table and at the farm. Even though he visited the farm a couple of times he seemed to be too busy to talk with Emma. Emma thought he was ignoring her on purpose.
It didn’t take so long for Emma to realize that she was completely abandoned by Danny. She knew it was all her fault from the beginning. Danny lost his friend Rick because of Emma. Maybe she should have danced with Rick. It might have solved all her problems. Emma was bit scared to talk with Danny with what happened in between them. They both have seen each other naked, but talking was harder than that. She has already caused so much problem in Danny’s life and she didn’t want to cause anymore.
“Emma” Helen’s voice appeared as Emma sat on a dining chair.
“There’s a man waiting for you outside. Says it’s urgent”
“A man?” Emma asked with curiosity.
“Yes, He called himself Kelvin”
“It’s been a while” He said
“Yes” Emma scowled. Kelvin rushed over and took Emma’s hand while she tried to stare away.
“Don’t do it Kelvin” Emma snarled “Can you give me another chance?”
“No I don’t want to” Emma replied in an annoyed way.
“Fine, it was my fault. I did it all. I’m sorry.”
Emma felt a raw burning hurt inside her chest as she looked at Kelvin’s eyes which were filled with frustration according to her assuming.
“But why should I give you another chance? You don’t even deserve it. You hurt me all the time. How can you guarantee that we have a future together? Or else I’ll end up in square one” Emma urged.
“I can guarantee you…. Because I want to marry you”
Emma’s mouth wide opened as she heard the words coming out from Kelvin
